Dear boys and girls,

We have learnt about nouns and pronouns this week.
You are all so excited about brainstorming 'nouns' in class.
To reinforce what you have learnt on nouns, you can always jot down as many nouns as possible on a piece of paper.

Below is what you have contributed in class. Don't stop adding the list of nouns. It is not exhaustive. Feel free to get a card from me (during your light snack or any free time)  and add it on in our Nouns Chart.

Finally, let me take this opportunity to wish ' Happy Birthday' to the January babies in 1C ( Shuon, Grace and Jamie). Shown below is a chart containing all the birthday messages the class has done up for them. :)

PAL lesson ( Chess)

Dear boys and girls,

Today is your first chess lesson for PAL. You are introduced to 3 chess pieces which are pawn, king and rook. You have also learnt the movement of these 3 chess pieces.

I could see that you enjoyed playing chess with your partners just now.Some of you are quite good at playing chess while some of you,being first timers, are trying hard to play the game as best as you can.

Math Update ( Numbers 1 to 10)

Dear children,

For the past weeks, we learnt counting, reading and writing numbers , comparing numbers and making number patterns.

Some of the math vocabulary words that you have learnt are:
(same as, as many as, more, fewer, greater than , smaller than and less than)

Common mistakes made

- 2 is being spelled as'tow' instead of 'two'
- 3 is being spelled as 'thee' instead of 'three'
- Number '2' , '9' and '5' are written in mirror image.

Need more practice on ...

1) recognising comparison of numbers for example:

• 1 less than 10 is ____________
• __________  is 2 more than 6

2) recognising relationship in the number pattern for example:

•  ____ , 4 , 6 , 8 , _____
• 1 , 3 , ____ , 9

* Parents, do take note that the children used number line to help them compare numbers and identify number patterns. You may want to use the same method when guiding them at home to ensure consistency ( don't want them to be confused).

1. Remember to do corrections for your spelling if there are any. Get your parents to sign your spelling book as well. Hand in your spelling books in class tomorrow.

2. Do your free writing on your favourite animal. Write why you love the animal. Please make sure that you write neatly and draw your animal nicely. :)

 We had our first library tour today. I hope you remember the rules set in the library. I know you are excited to spend some time in library to read books. You may go into the library during recess but remember to follow the rules. I know you can do it!

 

Please remember to give your parents the letter titled 'Enrichment programmes and mass collection for semester 1'. Please make sure that your parents signed the letter and hand the form to me on Monday. Have a good weekend and see you next week!

Dear children,

I know it must have been tiring for you for the past few days in school. Nevertheless, you did great adapting to the new environment. I am so proud of you. Despite the long hours, you enjoyed doing the fun activities in class such as playing the 'Simon says..', 'Blind mice', and 'Traffic light' game.
Not forgetting the entertaining storytelling sessions we had in class. You were so mesmerized with the stories titled 'The Fanged King' and 'The Pearl of Kinabalu'.
Reading is definitely fun so please remember to bring a storybook every day to school.
