English Updates!

Dearest 1C,

Let's RECAP what you have learnt the past few weeks.

Grammar

1. Present tense and Past tense (Look for clues in the sentences such as last night, yesterday, just now, two years ago.)

The tense must be the same for the whole sentence.
E.g. My uncle drove (past tense) his new car home yesterday (past tense) .
My uncle cleans (present tense) his room every day (present tense).
The only exception is when someone is talking.
E.g. "The soup is (present tense) too hot," Ali said (past tense) at the restaurant just now (past tense).

2. Subject Verb Agreement

Singular nouns have singular verbs.

E.g.
The elephant splashes water over itself.
The boy runs across the road.

Plural nouns have plural verbs.

E.g.
The mice splash water everywhere. ['mice' is the plural of 'mouse']
The boys run across the road.

3. Base Form

Use base form ( means that the word has no "ing", "s", or "ed") after  words such as will, can, could, might, should, would, may , do, does and did.E.g.
He can swim (base form) very well.
She will come (base form) for the party.
They did not eat(base form) in the canteen yesterday.
